Hyundai completes 25 years in India, know how the journey has been till now

Hyundai Motor India Limited- HMIL has completed 25 years in India.  The legendary South Korean car manufacturer started its journey in the Indian market on 6 May 1996.  Hyundai is the second largest car manufacturer in India.  At the same time, India is the largest company to export passenger trains.  From the beginning till now, the company has exported more than 3 million vehicles from India to the market of 88 countries.


Hyundai started production of vehicles at its Sriperumbudur manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu in September 1998.  The company’s first model in the Indian market was the Hyundai Santro.  This iconic Tallboy hatchback received a tremendous response from customers, after which the company did not look back.  After Santro, the company launched its premium hatchback Getz, which was later replaced by the Hyundai i20.

Hyundai has sold 9 million vehicles in India so far.

The company has a $ 4 billion investment in the Indian market.

Hyundai has a total of 1,154 sales outlets in India.

Hyundai has a total of 1,298 service outlets across the country.

Hyundai became the largest SUV brand in India in the year 2020.  The company sold 1,80,237 SUVs in India last year.  These included Creta, Venue and Tucson.

 Hyundai exports passenger vehicles from India to 88 countries in the world.

 Hyundai exports 3 million passenger vehicles from India

Hyundai touched the figure of 5 lakh passenger vehicle exports from India in 2008.

By the year 2010, the company exported 1 million passenger vehicles from India.

In 2014, the company touched 20 million passenger vehicle exports.

In the year 2020, the company touched the export figure of 3 million passenger vehicles.
